The Launcher is a tool that can launch a platform-specific client to connect to your deployments. It's great for quickly testing your latest build and sharing your project with others.

  • The Launcher is deprecated in China. If you’re in China, you need to use the Playtest Hub instead. Only follow the in-China instructions if you are located in China and deploying your game to server nodes hosted in China. You can only deploy to server nodes hosted in China if you're located in China. For more information, contact your account manager or get in touch.
    The Launcher can only launch clients built using the GDK for Unity or GDK for Unreal.
  • The Launcher is not supported on Linux.

Using the Launcher

To use the launcher, you need to have a cloud deployment running. See the section-specific documentation for details of how to run a cloud deployment:

Once you have a deployment running, you can either launch a client directly from the Console, or create a link that will let anyone launch a client.

Launch a client directly

  1. Open the Console.
  2. Find your deployment and click on its name. The page that opens shows an overview of the deployment.
  3. Click the ▶ Launch button on the left, and follow the instructions.

Generate share links

  1. Open the Console.
  2. Find your deployment and click on its name. The page that opens shows an overview of the deployment.
  3. Click the Share button on the left, and follow the instructions.

Installing the Launcher

If you've followed the tools installation guide (Windows/Mac) you'll already have the Launcher. Otherwise, follow the steps below.

  1. Download the Launcher (Windows/Mac).
  2. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.

Upgrading from the old Launcher

To upgrade from the old version of the Launcher:

  1. Uninstall the Launcher from your machine.
  2. Download the new Launcher (Windows/Mac) (the Launcher is not supported on Linux).
  3. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
